My Mom's garden - New Year resolution

My Mom’s garden is a unique topic that I found to write about, as everybody finds ‘My Mom’s kitchen’, familiar. But this one is to lighten up my readers about growing plants and live in a good environment.
Tulsi
Tulsi holds an important place in almost every house. It's also considered a sacred plant and brings lots of luck to the house if properly maintained according to traditions. It also has a lot of medicinal uses. It is edible and we can simply eat it during our cough and cold, which is considered good for that ill time. But we should not pluck it if it is used of Poojas.

Touch-me-not plant
Touch me not is a simple plant. Children would love to play with it. If this is kept along with Tulsi, considered more luck and sacred.

Jasmine Multiflorum (Sandhana Mullai)
Jasmine Multiflorum aka Sandhana mullai is a flower with divine fragrance, could be used for Poojas and also for decorations. It's also used for keeping in the head to spread fragrance.
Golden Queen (Money Plant)
Money plant is a simple croton, also considered a lucky plant.

This post is just to through some light about how my mom is passionate towards managing such wide variety of plants even though we live in a rented house. She loves each and every plants that’s in our home. She spends more time with those plants and treats them as her kids and even talks to them. More than passion she loves those plants.
Oscimum Bascilicum (Thiruneetru Pachillai)
Thiruneetru pachilai is a medicinal plant and also considered to be grown in places with positive vibrations. It is used for curing pimples and acnes.

With this post I would also suggest everyone those who reads this, to plant more trees and good plants, ‘strictly not crotons’ which has no use at all. Planting some useful plants which is compatible to keep it in your living room would surely purify the air around you. So when you’re in your home you could breathe good air. Especially people who live in hazardous air quality region like Delhi, Mumbai and various busiest cities, it would help you people at a low cost.
Prosopis Cineraria (Vanni Maram)
Vanni maram is a sacred tree. This tree could be found in many temples where it acts as a Sthala Vruksham.

This post consists of pictures of plants from my Mom’s garden and the details of the plants. I want to restrict myself to keep the short and simple, so I’ve provided shorter details.

Cissus quadrangularis (Pirandai)
Pirandai is an herbal plant. It is a widely used medicinal plant. It is used in curing of the joint pains.
Hibiscus Rosa - Sinensis (Sembaruthi)
Hibiscus is a beautiful flowering plant. This flower is used for strengthening of hair and related problems. Currently unable to add a picture of the flower.

Aloe vera and Clitoria Ternatea (Shankhupushpam)
Aloe vera is a medicinal plant used for pimples and hair related problems. Whereas Shankhupushpam is used for Poojas. Blue shankhupushpams are apt for Lord Narayanan and White for Lord Shiva.

Plectranthus amboinicus (Omavalli)
Omavalli is a medicinal plant used for cough and cold. This plant comes with a pleasant fragrance.

Plants holds an integral part in this earth and is connected to each human’s life intrinsically. The reason I am writing this could be many, but the human beings in this world ignored to consider the plants is one of the main reason that I am writing this.
Henna (Marudhani)
Henna is a beautiful plant which acts as a coolant of body. This also holds an important role in every important functions like marriage and family functions. Also the paste used to apply in hands and legs to decorate and also used in head for reviving the color and coolness of the body.

Nerium O-leander (Sevvarali)
Sevvarali is apt for Poojas of female deities like Durga, Parvati, Mahalakshmi and etc.

We are already sick of repeatedly studying about “The Global Warming and the Greenhouse gas effects”. Because it is not striking our head directly to remind us about big threat to the world that it is causing.  But we are so weak in accepting the truth that for our own future generations we are making this world not suitable for living.
Nyctanthes arbor-tristis (Pavazha Malli)
Pavazha Malli is a beautiful flower with a powerful and divine fragrance and is apt for Poojas of Goddess Mahalakshmi.

We are dumb and still thinking that we’ve more time to make this world a safe place for the future generations. We are killing our own mother earth by destroying the natural harmony and also by not following the traditional values.

Rose
Rose is simply a beautiful plant. It's flower comes in wide range of colors. This flower's fragrance is the best one and is used for making perfumes. The flower is used for poojas and also for decorations.

Aegle marmelos (Vilvam) (Bael)
Vilvam aka Bael is known for the special leaves apt for Lord Shiva's Poojas. The fruit comes in a hard shell and is used to make juices in summer. It cools the body of humans in summer. This is highly sacred plant.

Since New Year is a time when people are fond of following the trend, to take resolutions. I want my readers to take this as a resolution and make a greener future for our future generation to live without any fear of harmful environment.

Mom among plants
“Happy New Year 2019, this new year we’ll pledge to ourselves to act responsible and not to harm our own living environment. Make this world safe and sound with ethically, traditionally and environmentally a rich one”.

Yours East Gaterr
