Train Travel

Train travel

Today I'm gonna write about my one and only favourite mode of transportation. Train journeys are always best either you're alone or with your friends. I always prefer to travel by train.

As I was studying in a private college in Delhi-NCR region, I used to go to home and come back by train on my holidays. For the very first time all alone, longest train journey for me was going from Trichy(TPJ) to Hazrat Nizzamuddin(NZM) (Delhi) by Thirukkural express which runs from Kanyakumari(CAPE), Madurai, Trichy, Chennai, Vijayawada, Warangal, Balharshah, Nagpur, Bhopal, Jhansi, Agra, all the way to Delhi. TPJ -NZM is a 34 hour journey.

I'm a footboard traveller (only in trains) as I enjoy to stand nearby the door and simply tease some people out there or waving hands whoever passes by or just to simply admire the nature.

I'll always enjoy this journey as if I'm going for the first time. Everytime when I was travelling in that route, I made new friends every time. From chatting to sharing movies and life stories, each journey remains the best for me. To my bad luck, on Jan 2017, when I was coming back to Delhi after my semester vacations, in my nearby seats no people were there and it was unforgettable boring journey as the train was delayed by 12 hours due to low visibility on that winter.

It's my habit that I always get down and climb up at every station. If you're getting down in any station just  for getting anything or for the sake of getting fresh air please make sure that your baggages are safe inside the train.

FOOD STOPS

I always used to buy food from every station not from the train's pantry car. If there is no food at all I used to buy some snacks which becomes my meal for that time.
  • Chennai's Chappathi, Poori and Vadai
  • Vizhuppuram's Aavin Badam milk
  • Vijayawada's Samosas and bananas
  • Warangal's Idly
  • Nagpur's Orange
are some of the important food items available at respective stations.

VIEWPOINTS

Cloudy area nearby TN-AP border
  • Chengalpattu's Lake View
  • watching the beaches along the route of Chennai to Vijayawada
  • Krishna river just before the Vijayawada station
  • tunnel routes in between Bhopal and Itarsi Junctions
  • Going in between the forest and mountain near Bhopal
In between Bhopal- Itarsi
Krishna River Railway bridge

are some of the mandatory view areas one should not miss. Once you reach northern regions, then all your eyes gonna see dry and dirty areas nearby the track. Also after reaching Agra, forget about your reserved berths in sleeper class, as many unreserved traveller will occupy your berths.Even the ticket checker will allot them any empty berth but none will raise question about their unreserved travel in a reserved boogie.

I always pray to lord hanuman just to reach the destination safe and also for providing me a charging socket near my berth. It's another important issue that a traveller face, If you get a berth in a new boogie then there are more chances that you get a charging socket near your berth or else you might end up standing near the charging socket which is only available at the one corner of one old boogie or else you will roam here and there from S1-S4 or vice versa where you find charging socket.
Charging point waiting area in train :P
One funny meme I remember, which I've came across related to this train journey is:
Expectation Vs Reality of train journey
In the above photo, everybody expects somehow that their travel needs to be romantic, cool and easy, But most of the travel ends up like all the uncles and aunties, Granny and Grandpa sitting around you. the above reality is faced when your travel in an unreserved coach in the areas of UP, Bihar and interior northern areas (LOL).

My friends and others always asks me this silly question that,"Is travelling alone is not boring ?" "How do you travel alone throughout this long journey?". The point is, It isn't about travelling alone, It's about how your mindset and nature is. I love to talk more and also to make simple friends. During that journey you could also find valuable friends who might come all the way throughout your life and you might also find a friend who'll be friend just till the travel and sometimes you might end up travelling alone even without talking to anybody and just sleeping or you might simply sit and stare your mobile or laptop.

Train journey is cheaper and helpful in socialising, where you can meet all kind of people from different background. Sometimes it is helpful to discover yourself and admire the inner beauty of different people. Like trains, your journey also pulls different boogies like friends, fights, sleepy faces, footboard traveller etc. With this I'm ending this first ever long post of my new blog.
